When I looked up the definition of education my favorite description is as follows: a transformative journey that shapes the very essence of human existence. When we take advantage of opportunities to learn in makes us a better professional and human being. Continuing education as a credit professional is a huge key to our success. The Intermountain Credit Education League (ICEL) offers that forum to help us continue to grow both professionally and personally.
Once a month we have the opportunity to hear from top tier speakers. We’ve had presentations that enhance our character development as well as guiding us to make ethical decisions for the companies we represent. Many of my favorite presenters come from our own members. We have an amazing group of individuals with years of experience; those that are willing to share their practical experiences, in the trenches if you will, that gives us ideas and insights to better us in our career growth.
Let’s not forget about networking. ICEL provides networking experiences that have helped me both personally and professionally. I feel like everyone is a friend. This group of people provides a great resource for any credit challenges you face. I know at any time I can pick up my phone and call anyone in the association to help with questions or challenges that I face. The wealth of knowledge held by the members is a huge asset to anyone starting out in credit or even a more seasoned professional facing a new challenge.
Did you know that ICEL offers scholarships for those wanting to further their career in the credit field? Not only just for credit classes but also helps with conferences and continuing education opportunities. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without such a valuable resource.
I could go on and on about the benefits of ICEL. If you have been on the fence about joining ICEL, I hope this gives you some good information to take the leap to join this valuable credit community.
