Credit Manager, Ascend Staffing

Hello there! My name is Baylei Short, the Credit Manager extraordinaire at Ascend Staffing. I may not have a cape, but I sure do know a thing or two about credit. I’ve been dabbling in the world of credit for a good ten years now, with a few breaks here and there to keep things interesting.
It all started back when I was just a fresh-faced 18-year-old at Discover Card, diving headfirst into the world of consumer credit. From there, I found myself at a car dealership, playing the role of head collector – chasing down past-due payments. But even credit pros need a break from office life every now and then. I took a hiatus from the corporate grind and ventured into the world of mixology, all under the watchful eye of my dear old dad. It was a whirlwind of cocktail shakers and rowdy patrons, but alas, my stint came to an end when motherhood beckoned in 2014. I found a receptionist position as a proud member of the IML team. I quickly climbed the ranks to become one of their esteemed A/R Credit Analysts. After obtaining my CBA certification, I was eager to take on more responsibility and secure a managerial position. It was then that I stumbled upon an opportunity at a copier company as their Branch Admin Manager, then decided I wanted to get back in Credit. I now work at Ascend Staffing and love my job. I am passionate about the credit process of the business.
When I’m not chained to my desk at work, there’s nothing I love more than spending quality time with my daughter. Our favorite pastimes range from adventurous bike rides through the park to intense board game battles that can last for hours on end. Yet, no matter how far we wander, our appreciation of the outdoors always grounds us back to the calmness of the lake. Let’s not forget the fun of ice skating that we just recently started doing. In high school, I could not forget my time playing Lacrosse. I miss the game and still practice wall ball from time to time.
In closing, I take pleasure in being a Credit Manager and take satisfaction in being a part of NACM.
