The February ICEL meeting hosted the energetic and dynamic Sydne Jacques. Her topic was THE CONFIDENCE FORMULA.
Although I have three pages of notes, I decided to present a scaled-down summary of Sydne’s hour as taken from her great handout. With this summary you can take advantage of her comments and improve your confidence.
This is the secret–
UIAS + PB + SA(C) = Increased Confidence
- UAIS – Understand that confidence is a SKILL.
- When you HAVE confidence, it implies that it can be taken away.
- When you ARE confident, that’s a state of being, it’s who you are.
- PB – Personal Brand
- How do people see you? How do you “show up?” How do people experience you?
- How do you WANT people to experience you?
- SA(C) – Self Awareness x Consistency
- The secret to life is micro-habits.
- Create your life by design.
- Daily power up and power down. This is a process of planning your day, and then reviewing your day.
Sydne invited those in attendance to do a few things to increase confidence.
- Decide on three words for your PERSONAL BRAND. How do you want to be seen and experienced? Also come up with a trigger that will help you remember at an instance what those words are.
- Use the power-up and power-down method to be purposeful and consistent. (Commit to doing this for at least 7 days.)
- Become a trusted leader–
- Clarity: Provide a clear understanding of expectations.
- Compassion: Show concern for others.
- Character: Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
- Competency: It is important to stay fresh, relevant, and capable.
- Commitment: Be dedicated to the success of your team.
- Connection: Develop personal relationships, learn about people outside of work.
- Contribution: Apply your personal skillset to achieve results.
- Consistency: The most important pillar. Be reliable and consistent.
- Put together a 90-day plan.
The hour was very worthy and relevant. With Sydne’s motivation and material, the room was energized with potential. There is certainly great power in the message she brought. I would, indeed, recommend her for corporate training events and meetings!
